Ingredients:

For the Caramel:

  • ½ cup (100g) sugar 🍬
  • 3 tbsp + 2 tbsp water 💧

For the Custard:

  • 2 whole eggs 🥚
  • 2 egg yolks 🥚
  • ½ cup (150g) sweetened condensed milk 🥄
  • 1 cup (250ml) evaporated milk 🥛
  • ½ tsp (3ml) vanilla extract 🍦
  • A pinch of salt 🧂

For the Cake Batter:

  • 2 egg yolks 🥚
  • 3 tbsp (45ml) oil 🛢️
  • ½ tsp (3ml) vanilla 🍦
  • ¼ cup (60ml) milk 🥛
  • ½ cup (62g) all-purpose flour 🌾
  • ½ tsp (3g) baking powder 🧁
  • ½ tsp (3g) salt 🧂
  • 3 egg whites 🥚
  • ½ tsp (2ml) white vinegar 🥄
  • ¼ cup (50g) sugar 🍬

Instructions:

Step 1: Make the Caramel

  1. In a pan over medium-low heat, add ½ cup sugar and 3 tbsp water. Stir constantly until the sugar turns golden brown. 🍯
  2. Add 2 more tbsp of water, stir well, and pour the caramel into the bottom of a loaf pan. Set aside to cool. 🧊

Step 2: Prepare the Custard

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 whole eggs, 2 egg yolks, and ½ cup sweetened condensed milk until combined. 🥄
  2. Add 1 cup evaporated milk, ½ tsp vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk again until smooth. Set aside. 🍶

Step 3: Prepare the Cake Batter

  1. In another bowl, whisk together 2 egg yolks, 3 tbsp oil, and ½ tsp vanilla until combined. 🥄
  2. Add ¼ cup milk and whisk until smooth. 🥛
  3. Sift in ½ cup all-purpose flour, ½ tsp baking powder, and ½ tsp salt. Stir until well combined. 🌾

Step 4: Make the Meringue
