Ingredients:
For the Caramel:
- ยฝ cup (100g) sugar ๐ฌ
- 3 tbsp + 2 tbsp water ๐ง
For the Custard:
- 2 whole eggs ๐ฅ
- 2 egg yolks ๐ฅ
- ยฝ cup (150g) sweetened condensed milk ๐ฅ
- 1 cup (250ml) evaporated milk ๐ฅ
- ยฝ tsp (3ml) vanilla extract ๐ฆ
- A pinch of salt ๐ง
For the Cake Batter:
- 2 egg yolks ๐ฅ
- 3 tbsp (45ml) oil ๐ข๏ธ
- ยฝ tsp (3ml) vanilla ๐ฆ
- ยผ cup (60ml) milk ๐ฅ
- ยฝ cup (62g) all-purpose flour ๐พ
- ยฝ tsp (3g) baking powder ๐ง
- ยฝ tsp (3g) salt ๐ง
- 3 egg whites ๐ฅ
- ยฝ tsp (2ml) white vinegar ๐ฅ
- ยผ cup (50g) sugar ๐ฌ
Instructions:
Step 1: Make the Caramel
- In a pan over medium-low heat, add ยฝ cup sugar and 3 tbsp water. Stir constantly until the sugar turns golden brown. ๐ฏ
- Add 2 more tbsp of water, stir well, and pour the caramel into the bottom of a loaf pan. Set aside to cool. ๐ง
Step 2: Prepare the Custard
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 whole eggs, 2 egg yolks, and ยฝ cup sweetened condensed milk until combined. ๐ฅ
- Add 1 cup evaporated milk, ยฝ tsp vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk again until smooth. Set aside. ๐ถ
Step 3: Prepare the Cake Batter
- In another bowl, whisk together 2 egg yolks, 3 tbsp oil, and ยฝ tsp vanilla until combined. ๐ฅ
- Add ยผ cup milk and whisk until smooth. ๐ฅ
- Sift in ยฝ cup all-purpose flour, ยฝ tsp baking powder, and ยฝ tsp salt. Stir until well combined. ๐พ
