Ingredients:
For the Caramel:
- ½ cup (100g) sugar 🍬
- 3 tbsp + 2 tbsp water 💧
For the Custard:
- 2 whole eggs 🥚
- 2 egg yolks 🥚
- ½ cup (150g) sweetened condensed milk 🥄
- 1 cup (250ml) evaporated milk 🥛
- ½ tsp (3ml) vanilla extract 🍦
- A pinch of salt 🧂
For the Cake Batter:
- 2 egg yolks 🥚
- 3 tbsp (45ml) oil 🛢️
- ½ tsp (3ml) vanilla 🍦
- ¼ cup (60ml) milk 🥛
- ½ cup (62g) all-purpose flour 🌾
- ½ tsp (3g) baking powder 🧁
- ½ tsp (3g) salt 🧂
- 3 egg whites 🥚
- ½ tsp (2ml) white vinegar 🥄
- ¼ cup (50g) sugar 🍬
Instructions:
Step 1: Make the Caramel
- In a pan over medium-low heat, add ½ cup sugar and 3 tbsp water. Stir constantly until the sugar turns golden brown. 🍯
- Add 2 more tbsp of water, stir well, and pour the caramel into the bottom of a loaf pan. Set aside to cool. 🧊
Step 2: Prepare the Custard
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 whole eggs, 2 egg yolks, and ½ cup sweetened condensed milk until combined. 🥄
- Add 1 cup evaporated milk, ½ tsp vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk again until smooth. Set aside. 🍶
Step 3: Prepare the Cake Batter
- In another bowl, whisk together 2 egg yolks, 3 tbsp oil, and ½ tsp vanilla until combined. 🥄
- Add ¼ cup milk and whisk until smooth. 🥛
- Sift in ½ cup all-purpose flour, ½ tsp baking powder, and ½ tsp salt. Stir until well combined. 🌾
Step 4: Make the Meringue
