ITALIAN SAUSAGE PENNE PASTA
ITALIAN SAUSAGE PENNE PASTA β€ππ₯°
A hearty dish that combines savory sausage with al dente pasta and a rich tomato sauce.
It’s a comforting and flavorful meal, perfect for satisfying pasta cravings with its
robust Italian flavors.
INGREDIENTS:
- 16 ounce mini penne pasta
- 1 pound Hot Italian sausage, crumbled
- 24 ounce mozzarella cheese, freshly shredded (can use more cheese)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 ounce can diced tomatoes, do not drain
- 1Β½ tsp oregano
- 1Β½ tsp basil
- Β½ teaspoon salt
- Β½ teaspoon black pepper
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat, add sausage and onions, and cook until sausage is no longer pink and onions are tender.
- Drain grease and return to the pan.
- Add minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Cook for two minutes.
- Pour diced tomatoes into the skillet and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Add water to a large pot and bring water to a boil over medium high heat.
- Cook pasta to al dente, drain, and add penne pasta to sausage mixture, stir to combine.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese into the sausage mixture, stir to combine.
- Serve hot with a side salad and garlic bread.
