BBQ Smoked Mac n Cheese 🧀

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded smoked gouda
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions:

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook until golden.
  3. Slowly whisk in the milk and cream, cooking until the sauce thickens.
  4. Stir in the cheddar, gouda, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Mix the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, then transfer to a baking dish.
  6. Drizzle the BBQ sauce over the mac n cheese.
  7. In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter. Sprinkle over the top.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden and crispy.

Notes:

For a smoky flavor, add a handful of wood chips to your oven or grill.
