Tex Mex Poutine
Ingredients:
- 2 lb bag crinkle cut frozen french fries
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 yellow onion sliced
- 2 tbsp taco seasoning
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 cups Tex Mex grated cheese blend (or more depending on preference)
Gravy:
- 2 cups water
- 2 packets (25 grams each) brown gravy mix
PREPARATION:
- Cook french fries according to package directions. Add the olive oil to a large frying pan and turn to medium heat.
- Add the ground beef and begin breaking it up. Add the sliced onion to the pan and continue breaking up the meat.
- Dump the two packets of brown gravy mix into a small saucepan and add the two cups of water. Turn to medium heat. Stir occasionally until it boils and starts to thicken. Reduce heat to simmer.
- Once beef is browned, add the taco seasoning and water. Stir to combine and reduce heat to simmer.
- Allow both the gravy and the beef mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Assemble poutine by starting with a layer of crinkle cut fries, then 1/4 of the beef mixture followed by some of the grated cheese and topped with gravy. Serve immediately and enjoy!
