This pepper steak stir fry is thinly sliced flank steak 🥩 cooked with red and green bell peppers 🫑 in a savory sauce. A quick and easy meal that tastes even better than takeout 🥡!

Ingredients:

  • 🥩 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 🫑 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 🫑 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 🧅 1 small onion, sliced
  • 🧄 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 🧂 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 🌽 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 🍯 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 🍚 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 🫒 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 🌿 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 🌶 Optional: 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Sauce:

    • 🥣 In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and beef broth. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Steak:

    • 🔥 Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • 🥩 Add the flank steak and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables:

    • 🫒 Add the remaining 1 tbsp of oil to the skillet.
    • 🧄 Sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant, about 1 minute.
    • 🫑 Add the bell peppers and onion, cooking until tender, about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Combine and Simmer:

    • 🍲 Return the steak to the skillet.
    • 🥣 Pour the sauce over the steak and vegetables, stirring to coat.
    • 🌶 Optional: Add red pepper flakes for extra heat.
    • 🍳 Let simmer until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Serve:

    • 🍚 Serve immediately over rice or noodles. Enjoy your meal!
