Refreshing Orange Cream Freezer Pie
Ingredients
For the crust:
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
For the fill-in:
- 1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange
- 2 cups of cold heavy cream
- Orange food coloring (optional)
For garnish (optional):
- Whipped cream
- Slices of Orange
- Zest of Orange
Instructions
Prepare the crust:
- In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter until well combined.
- Press firmly the mixture in the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie dish. Chill in the fridge while filling prep.
Fill in:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, freshly squeezed orange juice, and orange zest until well combined.
- In another bowl, whip cool heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the orange mixture until smooth and fully incorporated. Add orange food coloring, if desired, to achieve a vibrant color.
Assemble the Pie:
- Pour the orange cream mixture into the refrigerated graham cracker crust, spreading evenly.
Freezing the pie:
- Cover the pie with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and freeze for at least 6 hours or overnight until melted.
Serve:
- Before serving, let the pie rest at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly.
- Top with whipped cream, orange slices, and orange zest if desired.
- Slice and serve this refreshing orange custard freezer pie.
