Italian Sausage Penne Pasta

ITALIAN SAUSAGE PENNE PASTA ❤😋🥰

A hearty dish that combines savory sausage with al dente pasta and a rich tomato sauce.
It’s a comforting and flavorful meal, perfect for satisfying pasta cravings with its
robust Italian flavors.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 16 ounce mini penne pasta
  • 1 pound Hot Italian sausage, crumbled
  • 24 ounce mozzarella cheese, freshly shredded (can use more cheese)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 ounce can diced tomatoes, do not drain
  • 1½ tsp oregano
  • 1½ tsp basil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat, add sausage and onions, and cook until sausage is no longer pink and onions are tender.
  2. Drain grease and return to the pan.
  3. Add minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Cook for two minutes.
  4. Pour diced tomatoes into the skillet and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Add water to a large pot and bring water to a boil over medium high heat.
  6. Cook pasta to al dente, drain, and add penne pasta to sausage mixture, stir to combine.
  7. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese into the sausage mixture, stir to combine.
  8. Serve hot with a side salad and garlic bread.
